Similarities and Differences between Broadsheets and Tabloids



Broadsheet articles/newspapers tend to have a more traditional approach with newsgatherings in a formal and serious manner. They are lengthy articles exploring reviews of the high culture,social and political affairs in the current contemporary world. The layout for broadsheets tend to be plainer compared to tabloids with limited colours and subtle images aimed for higher social groupings. Examples for broadsheets would include 'The Times', 'Daily Telegraph', 'The Independent'.

As for tabloids, they have a more short, informal approach and tend to a lot shorter on detailed content. They solely focus on celebrity gossips, involve astrological readings, television and at the back they would include gimmicks like bingo. Examples such as 'The Sun', ' The Daily mirror' and 'Daily mail' are the most common tabloids which are aimed at lower social groupings. 
They both however can be found in print form or online providing certain content for free.
