Similarities and Differences between Broadsheets and Tabloids



Broadsheet articles/newspapers tend to have a more traditional approach with newsgatherings in a formal and serious manner. They are lengthy articles exploring reviews of the high culture,social and political affairs in the current contemporary world. The layout for broadsheets tend to be plainer compared to tabloids with limited colours and subtle images aimed for higher social groupings. Examples for broadsheets would include 'The Times', 'Daily Telegraph', 'The Independent'.

As for tabloids, they have a more short, informal approach and tend to a lot shorter on detailed content. They solely focus on celebrity gossips, involve astrological readings, television and at the back they would include gimmicks like bingo. Examples such as 'The Sun', ' The Daily mirror' and 'Daily mail' are the most common tabloids which are aimed at lower social groupings. 
They both however can be found in print form or online providing certain content for free.

Beyoncé is seen as a multi-platinum iconic star who encourages empowerment of feminism through her music videos, one of them being "Run the World". Majority of the western society considers this music video to preach out to women of this era to break through the stereotype by  empowering women to show that she can hold the same amount of authority as a man. There are a lot of symbolism used throughout the music video such as an apocalyptic setting which illustrates war between men and women that's been going on for years in a patriarchal society. But this is the time and era where women will conquer men starting a new revolution for the 21st century. Referring to her lyrics "who run the world... girls", war is seen as a state of masculinity but Beyoncé moves away from that and based on the way her and the other women are represented, its as though they have already claimed their authority. Music Video Ideas- Initial Plan

NEA- research and planning from Isha Bhatt *(Edit) during the waltz scene, the devil will not be revealed at all, with this I want to enforce the connotations of the devil such as deceiving, dark and enigmatic. Also, the role will be played by a female actor as the devil is a representation of her inner darkness. This would also break the conventions of traditional waltz dancing of a man and woman as partners. It would empathize the personal conflict that Juliet has with her self.    * There will be shots/ scenes involving Juliet going through maniac and depressive episodes in order to represent  the visible struggles of bipolar disorder.
